Wyclif and the Great Western Schism

John Wyclif was a Christian, but he had a few different beliefs from that of the Christian belief system.  He believed that high priests and popes no longer or did not ever need to be in existence.  The Great Western Schism helped John Wyclif in his teachings and beliefs against popes, as the Western Schism was started by two popes, Pope Clement VII and Urban VI.

Beyond the Grave

In the Little Flowers, a book about the life and followers of the Franciscan Order, we do not really read that much about the life after the grave, whether it is Heaven or Hell.  The Little Flowers does tell us that the way we get into Heaven is by our good works.  However, later in the book, we find that we can only go to Heaven through the Son, Jesus Christ.  But the question is now: “How is life beyond the grave?”.

How Do We Gain Eternal Life?

How do we gain/have eternal life?  Simple, we can find this out reading our Bibles.  However, let’s say that we live in the 1300s and Bible haven’t been published yet.  So, where do we go to find out how we can gain/get eternal life?  Let’s look in a book, called Little Flowers.

Jesus Vs. Zeus

Jesus and Zeus are different. Zeus is a god, whereas, Jesus is the God. Each have their stories; each is different. Zeus is a jealous, quick to anger, and a punishing god. Jesus is somewhat similar; He punishes sinners, but He controls His anger. Jesus loves man; however, Zeus does not. Here is their ethical teaching and behavior.

The Sabbath

As we read the Gospel of Mark, we begin to notice the arguments and differences between the Pharisees and Jesus.  However, the main argument that Jesus and the Pharisees tend to argue about is working on the Sabbath, the day (primarily Saturday or Sunday) where everyone doesn’t do any work but eats and talks with their friends and/or family restfully (or goes to Church today)
